Cartier Tank
Cartier Tank in brief
The Tank was born in 1917 in a design by Louis Cartier. The parallel sides on either flank of the case take their inspiration from the treads of the tanks that were new in those years. It is the best-known form of the rectangular wristwatch.
The sides flow into the strap as lugs integrated with the case; Roman numerals, a railway minute track and the blue stone on the crown are the Tank's signatures. The family stretches from the classic Tank Louis Cartier to the bracelet-worn Tank Française, the curved Tank Américaine and the plain Tank Must.
