IWC Portugieser
IWC Portugieser in brief
The Portugieser story begins in the late 1930s, when two Portuguese merchants asked for a wristwatch as precise as marine chronometers. For this, IWC fitted a pocket watch movement into a wristwatch; the result was a watch with a very large dial for its time.
A thin bezel, a wide and plain dial, applied Arabic numerals and leaf-shaped hands are the family's language. Its best-known members are the Portugieser Chronograph with vertical subdials and the automatic model with a seven-day power reserve.
