Rolex Datejust

Rolex Datejust in brief

The Datejust was introduced in 1945 as one of the first waterproof automatic wristwatches whose dial window changed the date by itself at midnight. It has been Rolex's broadest family ever since and sits at the center of the brand's idea of a "classic watch."

The Cyclops lens added over the date in 1953, the fluted bezel and the five-piece-link Jubilee bracelet make the Datejust recognizable from across the room. The same case opens up to almost endless combinations of metals, dials and bezels, which is why it is chosen both as a first luxury watch and as the calm piece of a collection.

Frequently asked questions

Datejust 36 mm or 41 mm?

36 mm is the classic proportion and sits in balance on most wrists; 41 mm is more contemporary and noticeable. If your wrist is under 17 cm, most people choose 36 mm; if it is wider, 41 mm.

Jubilee or Oyster bracelet?

The Jubilee has finer links and is more formal, reflecting more light. The Oyster, with three broad links, is plainer and sportier. Both fit the same case; the choice is purely about the look you prefer.

What is the difference between the Datejust and the Day-Date?

The Datejust shows only the date and is made in many materials, including steel. The Day-Date also spells out the day and is made only in gold or platinum.

Which case sizes does the Rolex Datejust come in?

The catalog currently has case sizes of 31, 36, 41 mm. Our wrist size guide makes it easy to see which one fits your wrist.
